Moure l’Aigua Avoluntat (Moving Water at Will)

Installation
2025
The first time I saw the church emerging from the Riba-roja reservoir was in 2018, from a lookout, unaware of what I was seeing. Years later, I rediscovered Faió—my grandfather’s birthplace—through his archive of 5,500 slides.

Moure l’Aigua a Voluntat (Moving Water at Will) explores Faió’s submerged history, flooded by the Francoist regime, to expose the violence—political, cultural, and ecological—of displacement. By superposing personal slides over official archival footage, in an installation with cameraless analogue prints evoking my own fragmented memory, it critiques the neutrality of dam infrastructure and invites situates and intergenerational critical perspectives of memory. Exhibited at ULLAL Fest 2025 and Lluerna x Fundació Miró.
